Bandipora, Apr 25: An overground worker (OGW) of terrorists was killed and two security personnel injured in a fierce encounter that broke out in Kulnar Bazipora area of Bandipora district in North Kashmir on Friday, officials confirmed.
According to sources, the encounter erupted after security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of terrorists.

As the joint team of police and security forces zeroed in on the suspected location, terrorists opened indiscriminate fire, triggering a retaliatory action from the forces.
In the ensuing exchange of fire, two policemen sustained injuries, while an overground worker assisting the terrorists was critically wounded. He later succumbed to his injuries, officials said.
The injured security personnel have been shifted to a nearby medical facility, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable.
Authorities have cordoned off the entire area, and a massive search operation is underway to flush out the hiding militants. Intermittent firing was reported from the encounter site until late evening.
Security forces have intensified vigil across the region amid intelligence alerts about renewed terrorist activities in certain pockets of Kashmir Valley.
