Udupi, Apr 26: The Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association (UDWJA), in cooperation with the Udupi Press Club Committee, organised a tribute ceremony at the Udupi Press Club on April 26 for journalist and association member Sandeep Poojary, who recently passed away.
Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, speaking on the occasion, said, “Birth is accidental, death is inevitable. What remains eternal is the love and goodwill a person earns through their way of living. We have lost a talented journalist. Sandeep was a person whose personality attracted and loved everyone. Society must now stand with the talented young man’s family, who rose through hard work despite coming from a poor background.”

Rajesh Shetty Alevoor, president of the Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association, paying his tribute, said, “Sandeep, who was also a key player and a strategist in the association’s cricket team, was a huge loss to our association. While he was battling between life and death for 21 days in the hospital following an accident, members of the association and generous donors extended significant financial support in response to the association’s appeal. The association remains forever indebted to all those who helped.”
The financial aid collected through the district and taluk associations and from donors was handed over to Sandeep’s family. Sandeep’s mother Jalaja, father Vittal, and other family members were present during the ceremony. The event was compered by journalist Deepak Jain.
