Tejashwi Yadav: INDIA Bloc stands with centre against terrorism after Pahalgam attack

Patna, Apr 26: Bihar Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday affirmed that the INDIA Bloc fully supports the Union government’s efforts to combat terrorism, following the recent tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

“Terrorism and anti-national activities must be eradicated from their roots in the country. Until this is done, incidents like Pahalgam will keep occurring. Our foremost concern is the safety of the country and its citizens,” Yadav said.

He emphasized that whatever actions the Union government takes against terrorism, the INDIA Bloc would fully back them.

“This has already been clarified during the all-party meeting held in Delhi,” he added.

Calling for a united front, Yadav urged political parties to refrain from politicizing the issue.

“Our fight is against the terrorists who targeted innocent tourists after questioning them about their religion, and against those who discriminate on the basis of caste. There should be no confusion about this. The entire nation must stay united and act decisively against terror elements,” he stressed.

The Bihar LoP also underlined that terrorism and crime should not be linked to any caste or religion.

“Whether it is terrorism or crime, it has neither caste nor religion. Our collective fight must focus on protecting the unity and integrity of the nation,” he said.

The terror attack occurred on Tuesday when heavily armed terrorists emerged from the forests near Baisaran, a small meadow about three to four kilometers from Pahalgam market, and opened indiscriminate fire on civilians — mostly tourists — killing at least 26 people.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who cut short his Saudi Arabia trip due to the attack, returned to New Delhi on Wednesday morning. At the airport, he held a brief but significant meeting with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.

PM Modi strongly condemned the attack, vowing that the perpetrators would be brought to justice and reaffirming India’s “unshakable” resolve to fight terrorism.
