Brahmavar, Apr 27: The Brahmavar police have arrested three interstate robbers and seized a car worth Rs 10 lac that was allegedly used in a violent gold chain snatching incident.
The accused have been identified as Gaurish Rohidas Kerkar (37) from Porvorim, North Goa; Mainuddin Bagalkot (31) from Sindagi taluk, Vijayapura district; and Surjit Gautam Khar (27) from Vile Parle (W), Mumbai, Maharashtra.
The incident took place at Adarsh Nagar, Waramballi village, Brahmavar Taluk. According to the complaint filed by Padma (70), on the morning of April 26, while she was plucking flowers on the concrete road outside her house, a white car approached her. A man wearing an orange T-shirt got out of the car while 2-3 others remained inside, parking the vehicle a little distance away toward Doopadakatte.



While Padma continued plucking flowers, she heard a sound behind her. As she turned around, the man who had earlier gotten down approached her and forcefully hit the back of her head, causing her to fall onto the road. He then grabbed her hand, dragged her along the road, assaulted her face and upper lip, and forcibly snatched a gold chain weighing approximately 40 grams and valued at Rs 2,50,000 from her neck. He then fled back to the car with the stolen chain and escaped with his accomplices.
As a result of the assault, Padma suffered bleeding injuries near her upper lip, under her right eye, and internal pain from the blow to the back of her head. Following her complaint, a case was registered at Brahmavar police station.
A special team was formed under the leadership of CPI Brahmavar Gopikrishna K R, along with PSI Sudarshan Doddamani, PSI Mahantesh Jabagoud, and PSI Puneeth B E from Hiriyadka police station, and crime staff including CHC Imran, CPC Mohammad Ajmal, and CPC Kiran from Brahmavar station; CPC Raghavendra and CPC Vijayendra from Kota station; CPC Karthik and CPC Hemant from Hiriyadka station; and ASI Krishnappa and Vishwanath Shetty from Brahmavar sub-division. With the cooperation of the Yellapur police team, including CPI Ramesh Hanapur, PSI Yallaling Kunnur, CHC Mohammad Shafi A Shaikh, CPC Girish Lamani, and MPC Shobharavar, the team succeeded in arresting the accused.
The arrested accused will be produced before the court.
