Mangaluru, Apr 27: An unidentified man, suspected to be a daily wage labourer, was found dead under suspicious circumstances near the Kudupu bridge on the outskirts of the city on Sunday evening, April 27.

According to information provided by the police, the deceased’s identity is yet to be established. While initial speculation pointed towards possible foul play, police have clarified that the exact cause of death is still unknown. "As per the primary examination, we are not in a position to determine the cause of death yet," officials stated.

Forensic experts have indicated that only after the post-mortem report is received can the actual cause be confirmed. In view of this, police have registered the case under the category of ‘suspicious death’ rather than a murder at this stage.

“Various rumours have been circulating about the nature of the incident. We request the public not to believe or spread unverified information,” police added.

Personnel from the Mangaluru Rural police station visited the scene near Bhatrakallurti temple and conducted an on-site inspection.

Further investigation is underway.
