Arpora, Apr 28: A heart-wrenching incident at a hotel in Arpora on Saturday evening resulted in the tragic drowning death of a five-year-old girl, Sandhya Kumari.

According to the Anjuna Police, the incident occurred between 4:20 pm and 4:50 pm. Initial investigations have revealed a grave oversight by the hotel management, including the Managing Director and staff, who allegedly failed to station a lifeguard at the hotel's swimming pool, leaving it unsupervised at the time of the tragedy.

Despite the inherent risks associated with an unattended swimming pool, it is alleged that no safety measures were implemented. Following a preliminary enquiry, Police Sub-Inspector Sahil Warang filed a formal complaint.

Subsequently, the Anjuna Police have registered a case under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 against the hotel's management and staff. This section pertains to causing death by negligence. The authorities are holding them accountable for the alleged negligence that directly led to the young girl's death.

The victim, Sandhya Kumari, was a resident of Muzaffarpur, Bihar. Further investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic loss is currently underway.
