Woman gang-raped near Sasamusa railway station, one arrested

Patna, Apr 28: A horrifying incident of gang rape has come to light near Sasamusa railway station, within the Kuchaykot police station area of Gopalganj district. Police reported that the crime occurred around 5 AM on Monday.

The victim, who had been staying at her father’s residence in Shyampur village to assist with his medical care, was on her way back to Uttar Pradesh. While waiting for her train at Sasamusa station, she went to a nearby hand pump to fetch water. It was at this location that three unidentified men allegedly accosted her and forcibly gagged her.

The perpetrators then took her to a secluded spot near the railway station where they proceeded to gang-rape her one after another. After committing the heinous act, they fled the scene, abandoning the victim.

Following the ordeal, the traumatized woman returned to her paralyzed father and recounted the horrific incident. Local residents, upon hearing her story, promptly informed the police.

Responding swiftly, the police arrived at the location, conducted a medical examination of the victim which confirmed the gang rape, and registered a First Information Report (FIR) under the relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sahita (BNS) at Kuchaykot police station based on her statement.

The victim was able to provide a description of the three accused. So far, one of the accused has been apprehended and identified as Abhishek Bind, a resident of Kuchaykot.

The arrested individual is currently under interrogation, and police are conducting ongoing raids to capture the remaining two suspects.

Confirming the developments, Pranjal, the Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), stated, "Action is being taken by recording the statement of the victim. One youth has been arrested. The other accused will also be arrested soon."
