Vasco, May 2: In a major boost to urban infrastructure in South Goa, a new state-of-the-art KTCL bus stand is set to be constructed at Mundvel, Vasco, with work likely to commence within the next two months.
Local MLA Krishna Salkar, along with KTCL chairman Ulhas Tuenkar, recently conducted a joint site inspection of the existing bus stand and nearby open land belonging to the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC). This plot, located near the Indian Oil Corporation terminus, is being considered for temporarily relocating the KTCL depot during construction.

Salkar confirmed that a preliminary blueprint of the project is already underway. “The proposal has received full support from Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho. A feasibility report will soon be submitted to KTCL,” he said, adding that final construction will proceed once all government-level consultations—including with the Union transport ministry—are complete.
KTCL chairman Tuenkar hailed the initiative as another promise delivered by the "double-engine BJP government" in Goa. “The new bus stand will be developed with modern amenities and serve as a model facility. We are also committed to upgrading other bus stands across the state,” he added.
The Mundvel project is expected to significantly ease commuter flow in Vasco and improve public transportation infrastructure in the port town.
