Mangaluru, May 2: In the wake of the brutal murder of rowdy-sheeter Suhas Shetty in Bajpe on May 1, additional director general of police (Law and Order) R Hitendra arrived in Mangaluru to oversee the investigation and law enforcement response.
Addressing the media, ADGP Hitendra stated, "We have obtained clues about the accused, and stringent action will be taken. The culprits will be arrested soon." He further detailed the security measures implemented in response to the incident: "Regarding bandobast, 22 KSRP platoons, 1,000 police officials, and five SP-rank officers have been deployed."

Hitendra urged the public not to believe in rumours and assured that the police would provide necessary updates.
Shetty, a history-sheeter and the prime accused in a murder three years ago, was attacked by a group of 5–6 assailants near Kinnipadavu Cross while traveling with associates. The assailants intercepted Shetty's vehicle using a goods carrier and a car, then attacked him with machetes and other weapons, inflicting grievous injuries. He was rushed to a private hospital in Mangaluru, where he succumbed to his injuries.
