Udupi, May 4: The official visit of Lions District 317C governor Ln Mohammed Hanif MJF, along with the celebration of the Lions Club Charter Night, was held with grandeur on Tuesday, April 29, under the auspices of the Lions Club Udyavara Sunshine.
The event began with a warm welcome for the governor at the Kia Car Showroom near the National Highway in Udyavara. He was greeted with a bouquet by Lions Club Udyavara Sunshine president Ln Ronald Rebello, secretary Ln Gerald Pereira, treasurer Ln Anil Menezes, and other club officers and members. The second vice district governor for 2025–26, Ln Hariprasad Rai, was also present and received a cordial welcome with floral honours.












The governor inaugurated a retaining wall constructed behind the Kia showroom near a small bridge and later unveiled a protective fence installed at the Udyavara Grama Panchayat ground to prevent cricket balls from going out of bounds during matches. He lauded the continuous community-oriented initiatives of the Lions Club Udyavara Sunshine.
As a symbol of harmony, visits and prayers were offered at St Francis Church, Shambukallu Temple, and Jamia Mosque.
A board of directors meeting was held at Prince Garden Hall, during which the governor reviewed the club’s progress and offered guidance and suggestions. In the subsequent formal ceremony, president Ln Ronald Rebello welcomed the dignitaries. The event began with a prayer song by Ln Padmanabha Shenoy, flag salute by Ln Hari Pithrodi, and code of ethics reading by Ln Harsha Maindan.
Secretary Ln Gerald Pereira presented the detailed annual report for the year 2024–25. As part of the service activity segment, financial assistance was provided to a family for home repairs.
Ln Royce Fernandes introduced the district governor, followed by a reading of the Resolution of Appreciation by Ln Godfrey D’Souza. The governor was then felicitated with a shawl in recognition of his service.
Also present on stage were district secretary Ln Girish Rao, district treasurer Ln Srinivas Pai, and region 2 president Ln Praveen Carvalho. Vote of thanks was delivered by Ln Anil Menezes. The programme was efficiently compered by Ln Michael D’Souza, Ln Ritesh D’Souza, and Ln Steven Colaco.
