Death threats issued against Sharan Pumpwell, Riyaz Kadambu in YouTube comments; plaints filed

Mangaluru, May 5: Separate complaints have been filed with the Mangaluru East and South police stations after death threats were issued against Hindu leader Sharan Pumpwell and social activist Riyaz Kadambu through YouTube comments during news broadcasts related to the Suhas Shetty murder case.

On May 2, during a YouTube live stream of a news channel’s discussion on the Suhas Shetty murder case, a threatening comment was posted targeting Sharan Pumpwell. The message read, ‘Next target Sharan Pumpwell Sharan b ready to die’. A complaint regarding this threat has been filed at the Mangaluru East police station.

In a separate incident, a complaint was filed at the Mangaluru South police station concerning a death threat made against Riyaz Kadambu. During another YouTube news program discussing the same case, a user with the handle @krrakesh9456 posted a comment stating, ‘Next is Riyaz Kadambu’. The same user was also seen commenting “Hit list” during the live streaming of Suhas Shetty's funeral.

Police have taken note of both incidents and investigations are underway to trace the individuals responsible for these threatening remarks.
