Panaji, May 5: In a heartbreaking incident, the body of a six-year-old girl named Zoya was recovered from the Arabian Sea, a day after she went missing while playing at Goa’s Baga beach on Sunday evening.

According to a senior police official, Zoya had been at the beach with her family when she disappeared while playing with her brother. Her father, who runs a tea stall at Calangute beach, had brought the family for a casual outing to the popular tourist spot.

Tourist police, lifeguards, and the fire brigade were immediately pressed into action after the family raised an alarm. Following an intensive search, her body was found about one kilometre from where she had gone missing. The Anjuna police have recorded the family's statement, and further procedures are underway.
