Karkala, May 6: An employee of the Home Guards Bengaluru office has been arrested for inciting communal hatred through a social media post.

On May 2, a controversial post was shared on the Instagram account named ‘sampussalin’ (Sampu S Sanoor), in which the user allegedly stated that “Hindus will find peace if CM Siddaramaiah is killed.” The politically motivated post was intended to provoke communal tensions, incite hatred, and spread animosity against a political leader and the Hindu community.

Based on a complaint filed by Suraj from Kukkundur, Karkala, the Karkala Town Police registered a case.

During the subsequent investigation, the accused was identified as Sampath Salian, an employee at the Bengaluru Home Guards office. He was arrested on May 4, and produced before the court. The court has remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody.
