Udupi, May 7: In a heartwarming initiative aimed at promoting senior citizens' health, Prasad Nethralaya Super Specialty Eye Hospital, in association with the Senior Citizens' Association, Udupi, and Nethra Jyoti Charitable Trust, jointly organised a free eye check-up camp for elderly residents of Udupi at the hospital premises.
The programme was inaugurated in a traditional manner with the lighting of the lamp by Dr Krishna Prasad Kudlu, medical director of Prasad Nethralaya Group of Eye Hospitals. Speaking on the occasion, he stressed the need for regular health monitoring among the elderly.

“It is now the duty of the younger generation to ensure that our senior citizens live a healthy and dignified life. Good eyesight greatly enhances their quality of life. Children must ensure timely physical and eye check-ups for their elders and ensure they receive proper medical care,” Dr Kudlu said.
Nagaraj Rao, president of the Senior Citizens' Association, lauded the continued support of Prasad Nethralaya in organising such camps. “Every year, this hospital conducts health and eye check-up camps for our members. We encourage all senior citizens to make full use of these services to stay healthy and active,” he added.
Former president H Vishwanath Hegde and secretary Sadanand Hegde of the association were present on the dais. S M V Acharya, administrator of Prasad Nethralaya, extended a warm welcome and also compered the event.
The eye check-ups were conducted by Dr Krishna Prasad Kudlu and Dr Manas Bhat, while camp coordinator Surekha Manjunath and eye assistant Asha extended their assistance throughout the programme.
The event was marked by enthusiastic participation and served as another milestone in community healthcare outreach by Prasad Nethralaya.
