Moodbidri: Action-packed Koti-Chennaya Kambala Held Amid Fanfare

Moodbidri, Jan 22: The Koti-Chennaya Jodukare Kambala committee organized its 10th annual buffalo race at Kadalakere Nisargadhama on Saturday January 21.
There was a procession with the buffalos and their masters after the prayer service held at the Ayappa Temple in Ottikatte. Eshwar Bhat, trustee of Alangar Badagu Mahalingeshwar Temple, Fr Basil Vas, parish priest of Alangar Church, and E M Shafie Saheb of Puttige Jumma Masjid were present at the inaugural.
Kambala committee president K Abhaychandra Jain inaugurated the newly-built permanent gallery from where the event was to be judged. The gallery was constructed in memory of Sadhu Sanil, member of Zilla Panchyath, by his son Chandrahas Sanil.
Kuldeep M of Chawta Aramane presided over the function. G Umesh Pai, trustee of Venkataraman and Hanumanth Temple, Silla Kumbala committee president Belvai Sadanand Shetty, Koti-Chennaya committee treasurer Baskar S Kotian, chief secretary Gunapala Kadamba, Jayaprakash Bhandary of Pilikula Nisargadhama, and Moodbidri Tahashildar K Muralidhar were among those present on the occasion.
The presence of the cast members of ‘Radha Kalyan’ serial added to the glamour of the event. The event was covered by Zee TV for shooting and film purposes.
A good number of foreigners were in the crowd. Abhi and Stephen, professional photographers from England, took part in the event capturing the pictures of the buffalo race. “We will also paint these captured snaps to keep it as a memory and exhibit it in our county,” he said.
