Goa, May 11: Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Sunday held a Janta Darbar at Ravindra Bhavan in Sankhali, where he patiently listened to public grievances and assured appropriate redressal.

A day earlier, in a show of national solidarity, the Goa Raj Bhavan hosted a Sarva Dharma Sadasu an all-religious gathering at the historic Durbar Hall to collectively condemn Pakistan’s ‘unethical and unwarranted actions’ against India.

The solemn event was aimed at expressing unwavering support for the Indian Armed Forces and the union government’s determined efforts to uphold the nation's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai and Chief Minister Dr Sawant addressed the gathering, calling for unity and strength amid testing times.

“Dharma is truth, and truth will always prevail. Ultimately, evil will fail,” Governor Pillai declared, stressing the timeless power of righteousness and the need for unity among all citizens.

Leaders from different faiths offered prayers and expressed their unwavering support for the soldiers and national leadership committed to defending India’s borders. The gathering symbolised national unity and spiritual resilience, showcasing that religious diversity remains India’s strength in the face of adversity.

The backdrop to these developments was the recent military exchange between India and Pakistan. Following the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that claimed 26 lives, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, striking nine terror sites in Pakistan and PoK. In retaliation, Pakistan escalated tensions with unprovoked artillery and drone attacks.

However, on Saturday, both countries reportedly reached an understanding to halt further firing and military action.
