Credit for military operation against Pakistan should go solely to Indian Army: CM Siddaramaiah

Mysuru, May 12: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has firmly stated that credit for the recent military operation against Pakistan should go solely to the Indian Army, and no political party should attempt to claim it as their own achievement.

Speaking to reporters in Mysuru, the chief minister said, “The credit for the operation carried out against Pakistan should be given only to the Indian Army. No political party should try to appropriate it.”

Commenting on the ongoing developments, Siddaramaiah noted that a meeting between military officials from both countries was scheduled for today. “Let us wait and see what is decided there,” he remarked.

He also clarified that he would not draw comparisons between the current situation and the 1971 war. “The circumstances then were different, and today’s conditions are entirely different,” he said.

The chief minister refused to comment on issues such as US president Donald Trump’s tweets or Pakistan’s violations of ceasefire agreements. “I will not speak about Trump's tweet or the ceasefire violations committed by Pakistan,” he added.

Siddaramaiah further criticised the central government for not taking the opposition into confidence before announcing a ceasefire. “Before declaring a ceasefire, an all-party meeting should have been called. A special session could also have been convened. The decision could have been announced after thorough discussion with all parties,” he asserted.

Responding to questions about Pakistani nationals in the state, the chief minister said that all Pakistani citizens residing in Karnataka had been sent back. “Only three children remain in Mysuru. Their father is a Pakistani national, and their mother is a resident of Mysuru. Due to technical reasons, only the children are currently here,” he clarified.

Regarding the upcoming state government event, Siddaramaiah confirmed that the two-year anniversary of the administration will be celebrated as planned. “Since the ceasefire has now been declared, the event will go ahead. Ours is a government that acts as it speaks. That is the true success of our administration,” he declared.
