New Delhi, May 13: In a significant development following last month’s deadly terror strike in Pahalgam, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have released photographs of three suspects linked to the April 22 attack that killed 26 people, including 25 tourists and one Nepali national.
The suspects have been identified as Adil Hussain Thoker from Anantnag and two Pakistani nationals, Ali Bhai alias Talha Bhai, and Hashim Musa alias Suleiman. Authorities have announced a reward of Rs 20 lakh for information leading to their capture, urging citizens to assist in the ongoing investigation.
The ambush, which unfolded at the Baisaran meadow—around six kilometers from Pahalgam town—is being described as the worst terror incident in the Kashmir Valley since the 2019 Pulwama attack. Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba's affiliate, The Resistance Front (TRF), claimed responsibility for the massacre.

In swift retaliation, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting nine terror hubs across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation triggered a military exchange, with Pakistan launching strikes on Indian military and civilian zones near the international border. India responded by neutralising 11 key Pakistani airbases, dealing a severe blow to their operational capabilities.
Tensions at the Line of Control persisted for several days, eventually leading to a ceasefire agreement on May 10. However, India made it clear that while hostilities would cease, there would be no diplomatic engagement with Islamabad at this stage.
On May 12, Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) from both nations held formal discussions. According to Indian Army sources cited by ANI, both sides reaffirmed the ceasefire and agreed to refrain from any aggressive action. They also discussed taking immediate steps to reduce troop deployment along the borders and forward posts.
The situation remains sensitive, with heightened security across the Kashmir Valley and a nationwide alert to trace the three identified suspects.
