Mangalore: K'taka Beary Sahitya Academy Honours Achievers on Third Anniversary

Mangalore, Jan 22: A ceremony was organized to mark the three successful years of the Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy at Hotel Srinivas on Sunday January 22.
Inaugurating the formal ceremony in a unique way by distributing palm jaggery and pieces of coconut, M B Abdul Rehman, outgoing president of Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy, said that the work of the academy in three years was satisfactory and in the initial days, a strong foundation was put up by many people.
B A Moideen, former education minister, presided. Abdul Rauf Puttige released the book titled ‘Beary Baasel Arabian Nights’ penned by Mohammed Kulai.
Mohammed Ashraf Apollo (literature), Abdul Hameed Padubidri (journalism), Ahmed Anwar (photojournalist), Rukiya M Ali (social worker), Mohammed Ali Tannirbhavi (art), Abdul Razak Ananthady (writer), Zakaria Venur (acting), Mohammed Ali Baddur (acting), Ismail Tannirbhavi (drama), Haneef Puttur (art), Khalid Tannirbhavi (music), Aboobakker Baddur (drama), Mohammed Shareef Katipalla (drama), Hameed Kannur (music), Ibrahim Bathisha (singing), Abdul Sathar (drama), Maryam Ismail (literature), Shaukath Ali (music), and Samir Mulki (music) were honoured on the occasion for their achievements in their respective fields.
G A Bava, former president, The Beary’s Welfare Association, Bangalore, Abdul Khader Haji Golthamajalu, former president, Kendra Beary Sahithya Parishad, UJMA Haq, former president, Kendra Beary Sahitya Academy, Abdul Raheem T K, founder president, Kendra Sahithya Academy, Umar T K, Atthur Chaiyabba, Noor Mohammed, Basheer Bykampady, Mohammed Haneef, Abid Beary, Abdul Razaq, and M E Haneef were the chief guests.
Prof B M Ichlangodu, Dr Sushil P Upadyaya, Dr Maqsud Ahmed, Hamza Malar, and Rahim Uchil were present.
Umarabba, registrar of the academy, welcomed. Mohammed delivered the vote of thanks.
