Mangaluru, May 16: In light of the increasing passenger demand, Southern Railway has announced the addition of extra sleeper class coaches to 10 prominent trains operating via Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, Madurai, Ernakulam, Karaikal and Chennai.
According to a press release, two additional sleeper class coaches will be attached to Train No. 16604 Thiruvananthapuram Central–Mangaluru Central Maveli Express on May 17 and 19. Similarly, the same will be added to Train No. 16603 Mangaluru Central–Thiruvananthapuram Central Maveli Express on May 16 and 18.
Further, one additional sleeper coach will be added to Train No. 16629 Thiruvananthapuram Central–Mangaluru Central Malabar Express from May 16 to 19, and to Train No. 16630 Mangaluru Central–Thiruvananthapuram Central Malabar Express from May 15 to 18.
Train No. 16343 Thiruvananthapuram Central–Madurai Junction Amrutha Express will receive an extra sleeper coach from May 16 to 19, while its counterpart, Train No. 16344 Madurai Junction–Thiruvananthapuram Central, will be augmented from May 17 to 20.
To cater to the increased demand on the coastal belt, Train No. 16187 Karaikal–Ernakulam Junction Express will have an additional sleeper coach from May 17 to 20. The same will be added to Train No. 16188 Ernakulam Junction–Karaikal Express from May 18 to 21.
Moreover, Train No. 12695 Dr. MGR Chennai Central–Thiruvananthapuram Central Superfast Express will have one additional sleeper coach on May 16 and 17, while Train No. 12696 Thiruvananthapuram Central–Dr. MGR Chennai Central Superfast Express will be augmented on May 17 and 18.
Railway authorities have urged passengers to make travel arrangements accordingly and have assured that these additional coaches are aimed at providing relief to the travelling public during the ongoing rush season.
