Bhopal, May 17: Tensions flared in Seoni’s Parasapani village after two young men were brutally stabbed to death, prompting villagers to torch a liquor shop and block Mandla Road in a powerful display of anger and grief.
The victims, Aman Baghel (20) and Rupak Baghel (25), were attacked near a local temple in the Keolari police station area late Friday night, around 12:30 a.m., police said.
According to officials, the two had gone to Keolari after being called by members of a local family. However, they encountered the four accused, including a father-son duo, and were repeatedly stabbed in what police believe stemmed from an old rivalry.

Locals rushed both victims to Keolari Hospital, but due to the critical nature of their injuries, they were referred to the District Hospital in Seoni, where doctors declared them dead. One victim reportedly died on the spot, while the other succumbed to injuries at the hospital, family members said.
The killings sparked immediate outrage. Enraged villagers blocked the main highway for nearly two hours, demanding swift justice. In the chaos, a local liquor shop was set ablaze, as tempers flared.
Senior police officials, including Additional Superintendent of Police GD Sharma, rushed to the scene and worked to defuse the situation. The blockade was lifted after officials assured villagers of prompt action.
“The victims’ families have identified the accused,” Sharma said, confirming that all four suspects fled the scene after the attack. A case has been registered, and police have launched a manhunt.
Post-mortems were conducted in Seoni on Saturday, and investigations are ongoing. Authorities have vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice swiftly.
