Mangaluru, May 17: A passenger travelling on the 12602 Mangaluru–Chennai Mail tragically passed away on Saturday after suffering a heart attack, despite the immediate and heroic efforts of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) staff at Mangaluru.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:35 pm in the general coach of the train. Upon being alerted, RPF inspector Manoj Kumar Yadav and his team acted swiftly, evacuating the passenger from the coach, administering CPR, and providing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. The passenger was then rushed to Government Wenlock Hospital for further treatment.

Unfortunately, despite these life-saving attempts, the passenger was declared dead around 4 pm at the hospital.
“We did everything we could to save the passenger. Every passenger is important to us,” said RPF officials in a statement.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been revealed, and the authorities are proceeding with further formalities.
The dedicated response of the RPF staff, though ultimately unsuccessful, has been widely appreciated by passengers and railway staff alike.
