Beltangady, May 20: In a heartening display of honesty, Jagadish Poojary of Peraje —proprietor of Satyadevata Enterprises, Aladangadi, and a native of Balanja — has been lauded by the public for returning a gold-plated brass ceremonial lamp (brass light) worth several lakhs of rupees to its rightful owner.
On May 19, Rakesh, a resident of Kapinadka, had misplaced a gold-coated brass light valued at approximately Rs 2 lac while heading to a function early in the morning. Despite searching extensively in areas including Balanja, Guruvayanakere, Padangadi, and Madanthyar, he was unable to find it. He then posted about the missing item on social media in the hope of retrieving it.

Later that evening, around 8 pm, Jagadish Poojary, who had gone to a housewarming ceremony with his mother, was returning home when he spotted the brass light on the roadside in Kapinadka.
He immediately stopped his vehicle, collected the item, and took it home. Upon inquiry, he discovered that it belonged to Rakesh of Kapinadka.
Without delay, Jagadish visited Rakesh’s residence and personally returned the item, winning widespread appreciation for his act of integrity.
Rakesh and his family expressed their heartfelt gratitude, remarking, “In today's times, it is rare to find such honest individuals. May divine blessings always be upon you.”
