The encounter began after security forces launched a joint operation with the police based on intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the region.

“Contact has been established with terrorists during a joint operation with police at Chhatru in Kishtwar this morning,” the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps posted on X.

According to officials, four terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area. Additional forces have been rushed to the spot, and the gunbattle is ongoing.
