Kochi, May 22: In a heartbreaking incident, a three-year-old girl who tragically lost her life after allegedly being drowned by her mother in a river near Kochi has been found to have been sexually assaulted.
The police have taken the girl's uncle into custody for questioning as they gather and examine evidence related to the case.

Kochi rural district police chief M Hemalatha confirmed to reporters that the investigation is ongoing. The girl's mother, already in custody for the alleged drowning, is being interrogated further. A post-mortem examination revealed that the child had been sexually assaulted multiple times, with sources indicating that she may have suffered from abuse for over a year.
Authorities are now investigating any potential links between the sexual assault and the tragic drowning incident. Notably, the victim and the suspect were residing in separate houses within the same compound.
