Hyderabad, May 22: Hyderabad police have arrested Budumuru Nagaraju, a former Ranji cricketer from Andhra Pradesh, for posing as the personal secretary and Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and demanding money from businessmen.

The 32-year-old, a resident of Srikakulam district, used fake email IDs and WhatsApp accounts to contact prominent business figures, including Bollineni Infra Projects MD Krishna Mohan Bollineni, Rapido MD Aravind Sanka, and Gupta realty chairman Srinivas Gupta Verrabomma, extorting money in the process.

Nagaraju, already facing 29 cases in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, including a non-bailable warrant in Hyderabad, was arrested following a complaint by the CM’s OSD about fraudulent communications.

The cyber crime unit registered cases under the Information Technology Act and took Nagaraju into custody. Police have cautioned the public against falling prey to such impersonation scams.
