Udupi, May 26: The residents of Biliyaru area in Kurkalu, under Shirva jurisdiction in Kaup taluk, staged a protest in front of the MESCOM (Mangalore Electricity Supply Company) office in Shirva, expressing their frustration over the complete power outage in their locality for the past four days. The aggrieved citizens accused MESCOM officials of gross negligence in addressing the issue, which has made life extremely difficult for the villagers.

According to the protesters, the power outage in the Biliyaru region of Kunjargiri in Kurkalu has caused severe disruption in daily life. With no electricity, residents have been facing acute water shortages and spoiled household food items due to non-functional refrigerators. Sleepless nights and increasing inconvenience have left the villagers in distress.

In response, MESCOM authorities assured the villagers that steps would be taken to prevent such incidents in the future. They cited a shortage of staff as the primary reason for the delay in restoring power and promised to deploy additional personnel in the area in the coming days.

Former Kurkalu gram panchayat president Mahesh Shetty Biliyaru, M G Nagendra, Suresh Kurkalu, and several local villagers were present during the protest and discussions with officials.
