Udupi, May 28: A diabetic foot screening camp will be held on Saturday, May 31, from 9 AM to 2 PM at Dr T M A Pai Hospital, Udupi. This free camp is organized by the Centre of Excellence in Podiatry & Diabetic Foot Care and Research, MAHE, in collaboration with Manipal College of Health Professions and Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, with support from the CSR initiative of RailTel Corporation of India Limited, New Delhi.
The camp aims to detect early signs of diabetic foot problems such as ulcers, poor circulation, and nerve damage. Services include vascular and neurological foot assessments, footwear advice, free consultations, and 20% discount on further investigations and treatment (valid till June 15, 2025).
Dr Shashikiran Umakanth, medical superintendent, said, “Many people with diabetes lose their mobility and independence due to foot problems, which can be prevented. This camp helps in detecting issues early and provides proper guidance. I request those with diabetes - especially anyone with foot pain, numbness, or tingling - to utilize this opportunity.” Dr G Arun Maiya, dean of MCHP, added that early screening is key to preventing complications and both Dr T M A Pai Hospital and Kasturba Hospital are well prepared to treat diabetic foot issues.
