Dinesh Gundu Rao offers to quit as Dakshina Kannada dist in-charge minister amid communal tensions

Bengaluru, May 29: Amid the recent surge in serial murders and communal unrest in Dakshina Kannada district, minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has reportedly offered to step down as the district in-charge minister.

Sources said that the minister visited Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at his official residence, Kaveri, and appealed to be relieved of his charge as the Dakshina Kannada in-charge minister.

For the past month, Dakshina Kannada has witnessed a series of disturbing incidents, drawing widespread concern. A high-level meeting is said to have been held at the CM's residence to discuss the situation. Those present reportedly included home minister Dr G Parameshwara, DGP and IGP Dr M A Saleem, and other senior officials.

More details are awaited on whether the chief minister has accepted the request and who may be named as Rao's replacement.

    Best time to induct Hariprasad into the cabinet and give him the incharge for DK. He is aggressive and doesn't care about any nonsense. More than anything he's from here and knows things better than outsiders.

    Why no protest or word from opposition BJP. Normally the opposition party is the one first to raise the voice against law and order situation. Are they guilty or watching the outcome after setting the spark??????….BJP was complaining about law and order but now they are not to be seen.
