Bangalore: Another Shock in Offing for Milk Consumers?

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Jan 25: Karnataka chief minister (CM), D V Sadananda Gowda, said that Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has put forth a demand to increase the milk price by two rupees per litre, and that this demand is under consideration.

Recently, the KMF had been permitted to hike the price of milk across the board by three rupees a litre.

He added that he will soon hold discussions with the directors and office bearers of Karnataka Milk Federation before taking a final decision.

He was speaking to reporters after participating in a felicitation programme organized by KMF for Padma Vibhushan Dr V Kurien, who is widely known as the father of dairying revolution in the country, and state level talent hunt organized by KMF.

When curious reporters wanted to know whether Karunakara Reddy will be absorbed into the ministry shortly, he in turn, asked the reporters to pose this question to those who gave them this information.

In a curious development, KMF chairman and MLA, G Somashekhara Reddy, speaking to media persons, said that KMF has no plans before it to go for another upward revision in milk price.

“We had earlier approached the government to permit us to increase milk price by five rupees a litre. We received permission for only a three rupees hike. At present, we feel this price is enough, and we do not intend to impose more burden on the milk consumers,” he explained.

nagesh, et your fundamentals right, you dont have to give money to farmers, infact they have to earn it, and if farmers feel milk isisnt a lucrative business, they can change their scope of operations. But you aren't speaking of consumers who need to shell out the money and with a survey undertaken over 70% of milk isin't fit for human consumption. When milk is already adultrated, why increase the price, to benefit whom????
