New Delhi, Jun 1: In a dramatic early morning encounter, Delhi Police arrested three men accused of using online dating platforms to lure and rob unsuspecting victims. The arrest followed a brief exchange of fire in the Yamuna Khadar area of northeast Delhi.
The incident occurred around 2:25 am when a police patrol received a tip-off about suspects planning another crime near New Usmannagar. On reaching the spot, officers spotted three suspicious men who attempted to flee into the nearby jungle and opened fire on the police team.

Police responded with controlled retaliatory fire, injuring two suspects in their legs. Despite resistance, all three were apprehended on the spot. Two country-made pistols and three live cartridges were recovered from them. The accused have been identified as Sameer, Tarun, and Kunal Sharma.
Police revealed that Sameer has a prior criminal record linked to robbery and assault cases. During interrogation, the trio confessed to several recent robberies and admitted to trapping victims via online dating platforms before robbing them during their meetings.
Crime and forensic teams inspected the scene, and investigations are ongoing to verify the suspects’ claims and connect them to other unsolved cases. The injured suspects are currently undergoing treatment at JPC Hospital.
Police have assured strict action as the probe continues.
