Kundapur: Illegal sand mining busted; one held, another absconding

Kundapur, June 1: Based on credible information received, a team led by Nanjanayak, Police Sub-Inspector of Kundapura police station, conducted a raid near the end of Nana Saheb Road in Vadderhobli village, close to the Ring Road and the Panchagangavali River. The raid uncovered illegal sand mining activity in progress.

The police apprehended one individual, Uday Mendon, at the site, while another suspect, identified as Sunil, managed to flee the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused were involved in organised illegal sand extraction without any official permission.





Items seized during the raid include one fibre boat worth Rs 15,000, 1.5 units of sand valued at Rs 5,000, a 407 tipper vehicle estimated at Rs 5,00,000, one iron crowbar, and two fibre baskets used in the illegal activity.

A case has been registered at Kundapura police station.
