Belagavi, Jun 1: A deeply disturbing case of gang-rape involving a 15-year-old girl has emerged in Belagavi, leading to the arrest of five individuals, two of whom are minors. The victim was allegedly abducted and subjected to repeated sexual assault between December 2024 and January 2025.

The accused reportedly filmed the heinous acts, using the video to blackmail and continuously exploit the minor. The horrifying ordeal came to light when the girl's parents noticed a change in her behavior and, upon confrontation, she revealed the abuse.

According to the complaint filed at the APMC Police Station, the victim, who resides within the station's limits, was initially lured by a friend (one of the accused) in December. She was taken in a car to Windmill Hill at Muttyanatti village, where she was introduced to five other individuals. There, they allegedly raped her, with one of the accused filming the incident.

In January, the perpetrators again abducted her, taking her to Khadi Machine Hill near Alatage, where three of the youngsters further raped her. Both crime sites fall under the jurisdiction of the Kakati Police Station.

The parents' discovery of the abuse led them to apprehend one of the accused, a 19-year-old, and hand him over to the police. Acting swiftly on the complaint, a police team led by Inspector US Avati arrested five individuals, including two minors. Authorities are currently searching for the sixth accused, who remains at large.

This incident marks the second reported case of rape of a minor in Belagavi city within a single month, sparking significant alarm regarding the escalating crime rate and concerns for women's safety in the region. The case has placed immediate pressure on the newly appointed Police Commissioner Bhushan Borse to restore public trust and ensure prompt justice.
