Media Release

Dubai, June 2: Mangalore Konkans Dubai has announced Mattov 2025, a vibrant meet-and-greet event that will take place on June 28 in Dubai, bringing together all Karnataka-based associations in the UAE.

The event aims to foster unity and collaboration among diverse community groups, working collectively towards the progress of the community and the preservation of the Konkani language.

Organisers stated, “Mattov is a first-of-its-kind gathering aimed at creating a strong, inclusive platform for all associations, under the leadership of Stephen Menezes. The word Mattov means pandal in English and chappara in Kannada. This initiative will help establish strong ties between emerging associations and upcoming leaders, while celebrating and showcasing our rich cultural heritage.”

A key feature of the event will be the official launch of the ‘Sadhan Puraskar’, an annual award instituted by Mangaluru Konkans to honour individuals who have made exceptional contributions to Konkani culture and literature, recognising their lasting impact on the community.

The evening promises an exciting array of traditional performances. Organisers said, “Guests will enjoy cultural highlights such as Gummta, Baila, and Suggi Dance, along with captivating acts of Voviyo, Maando, and a spirited brass band performance. These elements will bring the soul of Mangalurean tradition to life, making the evening truly unforgettable.”

Mattov 2025 is a private, invite-only event and is expected to be attended by eminent business personalities from Karnataka, as well as notable figures from key organisations across the UAE.

“We are proud to host Mattov and look forward to an evening brimming with joy, cultural pride, and meaningful connections,” organisers added. “It will be a beautiful celebration of our shared Mangalorean spirit.”
