Bantwal, June 2: Miscreants operating under the Instagram account "Maikala Trolls" have posted provocative content related to a recent youth murder case in the Bantwal Town police station limits. The posts are alleged to be communal in nature, and authorities fear they could disrupt law and order.

In response, a case has been registered at the Uppinangady police station on June 2, under Crime No. 47/2025, invoking Sections 353(2), 55, and 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Police confirmed that an investigation is ongoing and appropriate legal action will be taken.

As per the complaint filed by Dhanush, a resident of Kuriyala village in Bantwal, the posts involved the misuse of an old photo in which he was seen standing next to the recently murdered youth in the Mangaluru City limits. The complainant had previously shared this photo on his own Instagram account.

According to the FIR, the photo was misused by unknown persons and circulated along with misleading captions on troll pages including "Troll Abraham," "Maikala Troll," and "Karavali Official." These captions were allegedly intended to provoke communal sentiments and to portray the complainant as a suspect or associate in the murder case.

A separate FIR has also been lodged at the Bantwal Rural police station under Crime No. 61/2025, invoking Sections 353(1)(B) and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Investigations are underway, and police have stated that further legal procedures will be carried out as per law.

Authorities have urged the public to refrain from spreading inflammatory content on social media and warned that those indulging in such acts of digital defamation or communal incitement will face strict legal consequences.
