Mangaluru, June 2: Classrooms across Dakshina Kannada came alive with cheer and enthusiasm on Monday,June 2 as schools reopened after the summer break, marking the beginning of the new academic year.
Several schools welcomed students—especially the newly admitted—with festive decorations and warm hospitality. Brightly coloured arches at entrances, welcoming smiles from teachers, and distribution of sweets created a celebratory atmosphere on campus.

As per the directions of the district administration, schools had invited local community elders, public representatives, and philanthropists to participate in simple inaugural ceremonies. These events were organised in a disciplined manner, ensuring a smooth and inspiring start to the academic calendar.
Government schools had already distributed textbooks, uniforms, and other learning materials in advance to ensure students were prepared from day one. In some schools, students also received basic technical assistance based on available resources.
The first day focused on introducing students to their classmates and teachers, along with orientation sessions aimed at helping them ease into the new school year. The mood was upbeat as schools prepared to embark on another year of learning and growth.
