Madhya Pradesh, Jun 4: In a heart-wrenching incident, nine members of a family lost their lives and two others sustained injuries when a cement-laden trailer truck overturned on their van in Madhya Pradesh's Jhabua district during the early hours of Wednesday.

According to police, the victims were on their way back from a marriage function when the tragic mishap occurred around 2:30 am near Sanjeli railway crossing under Meghnagar tehsil.

The truck, carrying heavy cement load, was navigating a temporary road on an under-construction railway over-bridge (ROB) when it lost balance and overturned, crushing the van underneath.

Jhabua Superintendent of Police Padmavilochan Shukla, confirming the details, stated that nine people died on the spot, while two others were injured and are currently undergoing treatment.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the region, casting a shadow of grief over what was meant to be a celebratory family gathering.

Further investigations are underway, and authorities are probing whether overloading or negligence led to the fatal mishap.
