Gorakhpur, Jun 4: In a shocking incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur district, a man brutally murdered his wife over suspicions of infidelity and later surrendered to the police, confessing to the crime.
The accused, Angad Sharma, a resident of Bahilpar village in Sahjanwa area, reportedly slit the throat of his wife Neha Sharma at their residence early Wednesday morning. Police officials said that Angad remained beside his wife’s body for nearly an hour before walking to the nearby Sahjanwa police station, where he calmly told officers, “I have killed my wife. Her body is at home.”

Upon reaching the crime scene, police found Neha lying motionless in a pool of blood on the bed. A forensic team was deployed to gather evidence, and the body was sent for post-mortem examination.
According to Superintendent of Police (North), Jitendra Kumar Srivastava, an FIR has been filed based on a complaint lodged by Neha’s family, and Angad is currently in custody.
Initial investigations reveal that Angad and Neha had a love marriage around two years ago, despite stiff resistance from their families due to caste differences. The couple had married at a temple and later relocated to Karnataka, where Angad worked as a carpenter.
However, they returned to Gorakhpur recently. Neha started staying with her elder sister in the GIDA area while working at a vehicle dealership, whereas Angad continued residing in Bahilpar.
Tensions began to rise after Angad suspected Neha of being involved in an extramarital affair, especially after allegedly catching her speaking on the phone late at night. This led to frequent quarrels between the two, police added.
On the night of June 3, following yet another heated argument, Angad allegedly attacked Neha with a heavy object before slitting her throat in a fit of rage, officials stated.
The heinous act has left the local community in shock, as authorities continue their investigation into the tragic killing.
