Ladyhill Victoria PU College hosts student orientation to inspire and empower new batch

Mangaluru, Jun 5: The student orientation programme plays a vital role in student’s transition and evolvement. Effective communication between the students and teachers is always beneficial. In pursuit of the same, Ladyhill Victoria PU College, Urwa, Mangaluru organised an orientation programme for all the students on June 2 in the PUC Conference Hall. The programme was presided over by our principal Sr Sharmila AC and Vaishnavi S, former student, and a member of the alumna association.

The orientation programme commenced by invoking the blessings of the almighty led by the students of II PUC followed by the lamp lighting ceremony initiated by our college principal Sr Sharmila AC. The oath taking ceremony was the most dignified and memorable part of the event symbolizing a deep sense of responsibility and commitment administered by Vanitha S, lecturer in mathematics.

Vaishnavi addressed all the students and emphasized on sharing her own experiences and motivated on the importance of leadership, respect to all and working in unity. Rithin Joyline D’Almeida, lecturer in English announced the names of the newly appointed student council for the academic year 2025-2026 and upheld the duties and rules to be followed by every student within the college campus.

All the lecturers came forward and formally introduced themselves and also the different forums newly introduced from this year onwards. The students were given an idea on the hands-on-activities that not only give our students a medium to fully utilise their creative talents and energies, but also help them in their all- round development.

Reema Marina Ornello, lecturer in chemistry and Seema Sheikh, lecturer in biology presented a power point presentation highlighting the various opportunities in Curricular and extra-curricular platforms. College principal Sr Sharmila AC welcomed the students and gave them an introduction regarding the academic disciplines.

As the motto says, 'Through effort to glory', the orientation programme was highly successful one with the words of gratitude by Latha, lecturer in physics. The programme was compered by Preethika D’Souza, lecturer in economics. The programme ended by singing the college anthem.
