Udupi: Truck carrying massive tank overturns at Kinnimulki Junction, causes traffic snarl

Udupi, Jun 5: A truck carrying a large tank overturned on National Highway 66 near Kinnimulki Junction on June 5, causing disruption to vehicular movement, particularly for tankers and other heavy vehicles.

The mishap occurred at the junction where the service road merges with the highway towards Mangaluru.

The incident took place when a road signage board placed near the highway obstructed the truck’s path, making it difficult for the driver to proceed.

The driver had parked the truck at the same location for two days, and while attempting to reverse the vehicle to take an alternative route, the massive tank it was carrying toppled onto the road.

The overturned tank created significant hurdles for traffic in the area. Udupi traffic police instructed the truck driver to clear the vehicle from the road immediately to avoid further congestion and to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Such a nonsense on our Indian roads happening during day light and traffic and other vehicles cant pass ,the dept has not yet thought of doing it better.Best is these tankers should be transported at night where less vehicles are there.Second why not they give support to tanks at the sides?Either fixed with railings or a rope over it so that doesnt roll?Looks like jokulata what they do.Drivers also be trained and instructed.Otherwise drivers licence should be withdrawn.
