Byndoor, June 5: In a significant pre-dawn operation, Byndoor police foiled an attempt to illegally transport cattle for slaughter near Yadthare Junction in the early hours of Wednesday, June 5.
The incident unfolded around 3:30 am when police intercepted an Eicher vehicle (MH 17 CV 3786) travelling from Kollur to Bhatkal. Upon inspection, officials discovered 10 cattle being transported without valid permits. A second vehicle (KA 19 MM 8402), believed to be providing escort support to the operation, was also seized.

The arrested accused have been identified as Abrarul Haq Momin (30), a resident of Nawayath Colony, Bhatkal; Mohammad, a resident of Kogti Bhatkal; and Mohammad Arif, also from Bhatkal.
According to police, the transportation was being carried out in violation of existing laws regulating cattle movement, particularly those aimed at preventing unauthorised slaughter.
“All three accused were caught red-handed and have been taken into custody. They will be produced before the court for further legal proceedings,” said a senior officer from the Byndoor police station.
A case has been officially registered under relevant sections, and investigations are underway to determine whether this incident is part of a larger illegal network.
Police officials confirmed that both vehicles involved in the operation have been impounded and further legal action will follow based on the findings of the investigation.
