Puttur, June 5: The Puttur Town police have registered a case against a man from Kasaragod district for allegedly circulating inflammatory messages via WhatsApp that could incite unrest and disrupt public order.

The accused, identified as Satyanarayana Adiga, a resident of Adoor in Kasaragod, is alleged to have shared provocative posts on WhatsApp that police say had the potential to disturb communal harmony and threaten law and order.

Acting on the content of the posts, police filed an FIR on June 5, 2025, under Crime No. 42/2025, citing Sections 353(2) and 196(1)(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

Officials confirmed that a detailed investigation is underway and assured that necessary legal action will follow. “Such acts that endanger social stability will not be tolerated,” a senior officer said.
