Haridwar, Jun 6: In a shocking incident, Anamika Sharma, a former local leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has been arrested for allegedly allowing her boyfriend and his accomplice to sexually assault her minor daughter. The arrests took place on Wednesday at a hotel in Haridwar, where Sharma and her boyfriend, Sumit Patwal, were apprehended, while Patwal's aide, Shubham, was arrested in Meerut.
The case came to light when the 13-year-old girl confided in her father about the horrific ordeal, prompting him to file a police complaint. Following the complaint, a medical examination confirmed that the minor had been sexually assaulted.

According to police reports, the girl was subjected to gang rape multiple times by her mother's boyfriend and his aide in various locations, including Haridwar, Agra, and Vrindavan, between January and March of this year. Disturbingly, it was revealed that the crimes were committed with Anamika's consent and in her presence, with threats made against the girl's father to ensure silence.
The trio has been charged under several sections of the POCSO Act and the BNS, including gang rape and criminal intimidation. Anamika, who previously led the BJP Mahila Morcha's Haridwar district unit, has been stripped of her party membership following the allegations. Party sources confirmed that she has not held any official position since August 2024.
