Dubai, Jun 8: A 29-year-old Indian civil engineer from Kerala tragically died while undergoing a scuba diving session at Jumeirah Beach in Dubai on Friday, June 6, during the Eid Al Adha holidays. The deceased, Issac Paul Olakkengil, suffered a cardiac arrest after experiencing difficulty breathing underwater.
Issac, who was based in Dubai, was accompanied by his wife Reshma and younger brother Ivin during the diving training session. According to Khaleej Times, the incident occurred at a designated scuba diving zone, where all three were being trained together.

“It seems he couldn’t breathe properly and moved away from the pack,” said David Pyarilos, Issac’s uncle, who is coordinating legal formalities. “Reshma was rescued to shore first, followed by the others. It was a panic situation underwater.”
Issac was immediately rushed to the hospital but could not be saved. His brother Ivin, who works in Abu Dhabi, collapsed upon reaching the hospital and is currently under observation. He is said to be out of danger but remains under close medical supervision.
“All of them are engineers. Ivin and Issac were very close. Friends were worried about breaking the heartbreaking news to Ivin,” added Pyarilos.
Dubai authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and have seized the scuba diving equipment for examination. Issac’s body will be repatriated to India once legal procedures are completed.
