From Mahbubnagar to AIR 3: Ananya Reddy cracks UPSC in first attempt with grit and focus

Daijiworld Media Network - Telangana

Telangana, Jun 9: Donuru Ananya Reddy from Mahbubnagar here, achieved an extraordinary feat by securing All India Rank 3 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2023 — and that too in her very first attempt.

Ananya, a graduate of Miranda House, Delhi, holds a degree in Geography with a minor in economics. She shifted to Delhi during the final years of her studies to prepare for the examination, staying in rented accommodation while focusing intensely on her goal. She chose anthropology as her optional subject and took coaching for it, relying on self-study for the rest.

Her preparation involved 12 to 14 hours of study each day. Though she did not follow a rigid timetable early on, she ramped up her efforts as the exam approached, emphasizing the importance of quality study material and understanding the exam pattern.

To manage stress, Ananya turned to reading novels and watching cricket — drawing inspiration from Virat Kohli’s discipline and perseverance. “Virat Kohli is my favourite player. His never-give-up attitude and work ethic really inspire me,” she shared in an interview.

Acknowledging the role of her support system, Ananya expressed gratitude to her parents, relatives, and friends for their constant encouragement. Now an IAS officer, she views her success as a responsibility and aims to ensure transparent and effective public service in her role.
