Howrah, Jun 9: In a shocking incident from Domjur in Howrah district, a 23-year-old woman was allegedly detained and assaulted by a man and his mother after she refused to act in a pornographic film. The woman, a resident of Sodepur in North 24 Parganas, is currently undergoing treatment at the College of Medicine and Sagore Dutta Hospital.

According to officials from the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate, both accused — the man and his mother — are on the run, and a search has been launched to trace their whereabouts. The duo is suspected to be operating a pornography racket under the guise of an event management and film production agency.

"Initial findings indicate they lured young women with job offers and later coerced them into acting in soft pornographic content. We are also probing a possible sex racket linked to them," said an officer from Howrah City Police.

The survivor alleged that the mother inflicted the most cruelty during her captivity, saying, “She used to beat me while her son watched silently.” The young woman had met the accused on Facebook last year, where he promised her employment.

However, upon visiting their Domjur residence to discuss the job, the woman was allegedly assaulted and forced into domestic work after she refused to become a bar dancer, her parents mentioned in a complaint filed at Khardah police station. Her mobile phone was also reportedly seized by the accused.

Police continue to investigate the case, suspecting wider criminal activity behind the front of their event management setup.
