Media Release

Nottingham (UK), Jun 10: Mangalorean United Konkani Association (MUKA) is an organization in Nottingham, England established in 2006 to bring together the Konkani community in the UK, preserve culture, and pass down traditions to younger generation and also focus on charitable initiatives to give back those in need.

In celebration of MUKA’s 20th anniversary which is a significant milestone for the Konkani community in Nottingham, UK, MUKA is organizing ‘Voice of Konkan’, a global online Konkani singing contest, welcoming Konkani participants from across the globe. This event is set to be a fantastic tribute to cultural heritage and talent.

MUKA’s journey began in 2006 when a group of passionate Mangalurean families from Nottingham and Derby came together with a shared vision to create a home away from home. Having migrated to the UK, particularly to the East Midlands of England, they sought to foster a sense of belonging, support, and cultural unity among individuals originally from Mangaluru, Karnataka.

MUKA is dedicated to celebrating and preserving the Mangalurean identity. As a non-profit organization, the association hosts a variety of cultural and social events to bring the community together.
