Mangaluru, June 11: Due to high rainfall in Udupi district a red alert has been sounded and holiday declared for the schools on Thursday, June 12.
The disaster management authority has taken certain precautions as heavy rain has been pounding the district for the last couple of days.

Holiday has been declared for Anganwadis, primary and high schools (including CBSE)in Udupi district including government, aided and unaided private schools. However all pre-university, degree, post graduate, engineering, diploma and ITI colleges will function as usual.
Parents are asked to ensure that children do not go to low lying areas, lakes, sea shore and river sides. The fishermen too have been warned aginst venturing into water. Taluk level officers have been asked to remain at the headquarters compulsorily. Nodal officers appointed for various positions by the district administration have been asked to be alert and respond to public complaints. The tahsildar have been directed to be in constant contact.

As a precautionary measure, both residents and tourists are strictly prohibited from approaching beaches, rivers, and waterfalls and are advised against taking photos and videos in these areas.
