Mangaluru, Jun 12: In a shocking incident reported from Mulki in Dakshina Kannada district on Wednesday, June 11, an 86-year-old elderly woman was allegedly assaulted by her two daughters over a property dispute. The woman sustained severe injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mangaluru.
A complaint regarding the assault had been submitted 15 days ago to Rajani Raj, chairperson of the Women and Child Welfare Department of Mandya district, Maddur. Acting on behalf of the distressed senior citizen, Rajani Raj brought the matter to the attention of Mangaluru city police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy.




Responding promptly, the police commissioner immediately left his office and visited the spot where the elderly woman was found seated. After listening to the woman's ordeal in person, he issued immediate orders to the assistant commissioner of police (ACP) of Panambur to launch a thorough investigation into the case and ensure justice through appropriate legal action.
In appreciation of the swift intervention and support, the elderly woman, identified as Manorama, along with Rajani Raj and her associates, extended heartfelt thanks to the Mangaluru city police commissioner. They also lauded Rajani Raj for her commendable efforts in championing justice and standing up for the rights of senior citizens—earning praise from the community.
