Mumbai, Jun 12: India’s women’s cricket team has made a key change ahead of their white-ball tour of England later this month, with Radha Yadav named as the replacement for injured pacer Shuchi Upadhyay. The tour includes five T20 Internationals and three ODIs, scheduled from June 28 to July 22 across various iconic English venues.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Shuchi, a newcomer who debuted in the recent Tri-Series in Sri Lanka, was ruled out after sustaining a left shin injury during the pre-tour camp at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
This development gives an opening to experienced all-rounder Radha Yadav, who now joins both the T20I and ODI squads for the series.
One of the headline comebacks in the T20I squad is Shafali Verma, who returns after being sidelined since India’s underwhelming campaign at the 2024 T20 World Cup in the UAE. Her return follows a stellar domestic season and an impressive run in the WPL 2025, where she scored 304 runs at a strike rate of 152.76 for Delhi Capitals.
Pacer Sayali Satghare is another notable addition, making it to both formats and offering depth in India’s pace unit that has been weakened by injuries to Renuka Singh Thakur and Titas Sadhu.
The ODI squad remains largely unchanged from the side that recently triumphed in the Sri Lanka Tri-Series, with Sayali and Radha being the only new inclusions. These ODIs will serve as vital preparation for the Women’s ODI World Cup to be hosted by India later this year.
India’s T20I series will take place at Trent Bridge, Bristol, The Oval, Old Trafford, and Edgbaston, while the ODIs are slated for Southampton, Lord’s, and Chester-le-Street.
